MONTE CRISTO THE MUSICAL
From the 1^st until 12^th of October in Moscow Operetta Theatre will take place a premiere of a new musical called “Monte Cristo”. This will be the first time ever when the legendary novel by A. Dumas will unravel before the audience in the form of a musical. Monte Cristo shall continue the tradition of extremely successful “Metro”, “Notre Dame de Paris”, “Romeo et Juliette”. Each of them has been run on the stage of Moscow Operetta Theatre for a long time. But this one promises to even outdo its predecessors. The libretto has been written by famous Russian lyricist Yuliy Kim, who has already written a lot of hits for many Russian theatre productions, musicals and movies. The composer Roman Ignatiev has managed to create a beautiful music which is now bound to become a hit for the whole theatre season in Moscow.
Musical “Monte Cristo” is a modern show - extremely entertaining, thrilling and dazzling. It is based on a classical story about love and revenge, good and evil, betrayal and forgiveness, expressed in a way, which is easily understood by contemporary audience.
Especially for this premiere Moscow Operetta Theatre has been equipped with the most modern lightning, sound and projection hardware. The action will unravel in the massive settings, backed by colorful costumes. Another fact that makes an upcoming premiere notable is that the choreography of the production includes parkour elements, the latest trend in the street culture.
“Monte Cristo” cast includes musical stars, already well known for their parts in previous productions, as well as some new names for musical theatre, most of which are also rather well known because of their work in movies. Their appearance in “Monte Cristo” will come as a surprise for all their admirers.
