The “City lights” will light up once again!

After the fantastic success of the premiere show of the Russian ice-production “The city lights” in Moscow in October, 2010, its producer Ilya Averbukh has decided to bring it to Moscow audience once again.  Starting from March, 31, and till April, 10, “The city lights” will once again be light up in State Central Concert Hall “Rossiya” in “Luzhniki” sport complex.
In the history of each of the show genres sometimes happen the events that are fated to signify the next step in the development of the genre, dividing all other shows of similar kind to the ones that were “before” or “after”.  Something like that has definitely happened to the western genre after the movies by Leone or with circus art after ‘Cirque du Soleil” has appeared. Now the legend of Russian figure ice-skating Ilya Averbukh has created something more than a new wonderful sample of ice-skating art.  After he has presented his production “The city lights” in October, 2010, it became clear that he has come very close to creating a totally new kind of ice shows. He has based the production on the fascinating and touching dramatic story, entrusting its most memorable numbers to the real dream-cast of world figure ice-skating. And all that has been complimented by live music and the truly large-scale stage designs.
You can definitely say, that nowhere in the world are the ice shows staged with such an impressive cast and in such a smashing designs! The famous Charlie Chaplin movie “The City Lights” which has given the name to the show was a source of inspiration, a starting point for the fantasy of the authors. But the result, the ice production “The city lights” is an absolutely independent drama action with a script written specifically for the show. The soundtrack of the production is original as well though in most of the ice shows are traditionally used the well-known hits. For the first time in the impressive history of Russian ice-skating productions the music for the show is performed live. And this is a rarity even for contemporary theatre stages. The unusual format of the show has demanded for the innovative approach to the stage space. Only the most complicated machinery and technical equipment could have provided for the needs of the unexpected trick ideas of the author.
Speaking about the cast of the artists and sportsmen, just one name would have been enough to promise an unforgettable ice show. In the project of Ilya Averbukh there will be eleven names known to all lovers of figure ice-skating: Alexey Yagudin, Tatyana Navka, Roman Kostomarov, Tatyana Totymyanina, Maksim Marinin, Elena Berezhnaya, Anton Siharulidze, Alexey Tikhonov, Margarita Drobyazko, Povilas Vanagas, Marat Basharov.
The Charlie Chaplin movie has become a closing masterpiece for the epoch of great silent movies. The ice show, set basing in that story has discovered the new genre in performing arts – an ice musical where the ballet plastics with dynamics and adrenaline of the risky tricks in figure ice-skating and the emotional strain of dramatic story. And all this is accompanied by the magical charm of live music performance. The show that has become a bestseller in the world of entertainment will be renewed in Moscow in the State Central Concert Hall “Rossiya” in “Luzhniki” sport complex.
