PLACEBO

Brian Molko, “Placebo’s” vocalist, composer and lyricist jokes that seeing as many bands choose the name of different drugs as the name of the team, they will choose the one that doesn’t work. Interestingly enough, despite “Placebo” being considered as British rock-band, none of the participants of the band is really British.
These moody capricious androgens seem to exist outside the boundaries of time and create without looking back at the demands of style and genre. And yet, they present us album following an album, each of them mannered and scary odes to the sin, beauty and despair. Coming back to Moscow which has long been infatuated with them, they bring their old hits and the latest maxi-single "Bright Lights".
With each new album “Placebo” develop their sound and every their album has its own inimitable style. The "Battle for the sun" is no exception for this rule. The album is full with new ideas and brand new rhythms. It can mainly be explained by the fact that the album has been recorded with “Placebo’s” new drummer Steve Forrest. Steve has joined the band in August, 2008.
Brian explains that the album is about choosing the life and choosing to live. It tells you how to come out to the light from the darkness. He adds, that it is not necessary to turn your back on the darkness as it is important as any other part of you is. But you can always make your choice and stand by the sight of lights.
"Placebo" has done a lot to keep the guitar rock fresh, impressive and making people think. To put it straighter, they have rediscovered its dark magic. The guys themselves think that what attract people to "Placebo" first and foremost is sincerity, vulnerability and fragility combined with humanity. They would like to think, the musicians say, that  the music of ‘Placebo” is very genuine.
