The “Afrikanda” show (Chad, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Ghana, Congo, Madagaskar)

The cast: Mariam Palkubu (vocal), Jaga Samba (percussions, vocal), Monika MendesOrea (dance), Pavel (Afrikanda) Korotkov (guitar, vocal), Samuel Asare-Bedieko (drums), Christian Mbuyamba Mutombo (guitar, vocal), Gilen (bass-guitar, vocal), Russel-Razinirivu de Russel Zhulber (bass-guitar, vocal).

“Afrikanda” is a project, remarkable for its originality. It originates from Russia, though all of the ensemble’s participants except one are from Africa. The repertoire of “Afrikanda” includes almost all music style that have been created at the Dark Continent, such as afrobit, reggae, sukus. But at their concert you will have no time to reflex on the musical styles in which their compositions have been written. The expressiveness of costumes, wonderful lights and sound totally astound every guest.  You can call Mariam Palkubu the main inspirer of the project – she is an experienced musician, who has been performing since being six years old. Another leading man is Pavel Korotkov, who is, by the way, an only Russian musician in “Afrikanda”. Pavel is the author of the ensemble’s lyrics. It is quite probable that if he wouldn’t be so carried away with legends, myths and music of Africa there would have been no “Africanda” in Moscow now. The other participants of the project contribute to the development of their performances as much as these two. All together they turn each concert into an unforgettable show. And their main goal is to make captivating African music known in loved in Russia.
