THE "PILOBOLUS" DANCE THEATRE  (USA)
A stunning show to be seen!

As the “New York Post” paper said, there are only four contemporary dance companies that are able to perform the four weeks long season in New-York. And among these gurus Pilobolus is the smallest of all four.

“The Washington Post” follows the praise pointing  out than in forty-something years of its history "Pilobolus Dance Theatre" has managed to turn from the local dance company “Dartmouth College” into the brand new revolutionary cultural phenomenon. 

In April, 2010, “Pilobolus” dance theatre from USA will give in Russia two of its fantastic, dazzling, fabulous shows . The theatre brings the program named “Shadowland”. It will be presented in the two main cities of the country – Moscow and St-Petersburg.  
«Shadowland» - is an elaborate synthesis of dance, gymnastics and acrobatics. The artists perform the most technically complicated elements with an airy easiness. This show is an unusual way of expressing usual humane feelings: love and hatred,  kindness and evilness, fear and hope for miracle.  This is a combination of traditional classic dance school elements being presented in the absolutely new version, which doesn’t have anything in common with all other dance shows.
“Pilobolus” dance theatre is deservingly placed on one of the top lines in the world rating of the best dance and choreography companies.  In the contrary to the traditional autocracy in most of the companies, “Pilobolus” dancers create their productions collectively. They successfully compliment the dance itself with shadow theatre genre, Japan zentai costume art, plastics and gymnastics.  Possessing the physical abilities beyond your imagination, the “Shadow Theatre” dancers on the stage seem to be miraculous creatures. They have an easy ironical style, balancing on the verge of dance and acrobatics, and the stunning special effects never fail to surprise and amaze the audience. Watching the artists demonstrate their rare skills, the audience is sure to get the full impression of being present at the moment when some unique anthropomorphous existence is born.  
“Pilobolus” dance fantasies have become the classics of American ballet! In the forty years of their history “Pilobolus” have performed in front of 120 million people in USA and in addition in front of 4 million people more in the 63 countries of the world. Their shows have been broadcasted in 200 countries. The theatre has been rewarded with numerous awards and nominations. The “Pilobolus” artists take part in the variety of different projects related to the theatre, choreographic art, social and educating programs and to many spheres of contemporary art. In 2007 the company has been performing at the 79th “Oscar” ceremony. Hidden behind the white screen, the dancers then have been showing the scenes from the nominated movies (“Happy feet”, “Little miss sunshine”, “Devil wears Prada”, “The Departed”).
Season 2009/10 will signify the 39th year of their work. The company continues to grow and expand, perfecting its unusual methods of work while producing and performing more than one hundred choreographic productions. The theatre keeps its high positions in the world of American and international dance theatre. “Pilobolus” is the first among the most influential path-breakers in this direction! We have no doubt, that their shows in Moscow in Saint-Petersburg will become an unforgettable event in the rich cultural life of both cities.
